US Destroyer Can Strike Any Part of Syria From Mediterranean – Russian MoD

Earlier, the Ministry announced that the United States, the United Kingdom and France were preparing to carry out new strikes against Syria under the pretext of a false chemical weapons attack by Syrian government forces.

“The United States keeps building up the group of cruise missile carriers in the Middle East region, connected with the preparation of a regular provocation with an alleged ‘use of chemical weapons’ in the province of Idlib,” Konashenkov said

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the US destroyer may strike any part of Syria from the Mediterranean.

Recently, Russian military said that the militants are preparing to use chemical weapons in Syria, and the US could use this as a reason for a new attack on Syrian state facilities.

For this purpose, the destroyer USS The Sullivans, armed with 56 cruise missiles, arrived in the Persian Gulf several days ago, while a US В-1В bomber carrying 24 air-to-surface AGM-158 JASSM cruise missiles has been deployed at Al Udeid air base in Qatar, Konashenkov noted.

  1. Your views expressed in this article are primitive. Any aggressive nation with US included can strike the other nation at will with cruise missiles. Nothing new in this point. It all matters whether they wish to strike and start a war or not. US is doubly careful because of bad experience in Afghanistan and Iraq. Each of that cost a trillion dollars and basically a defeat. The other side of the coin is that it allowed China to rise and rival itself with US when US was busy in these two places. (India missed the bus with its Puritan views).

The only reason they have not struck is that they are afraid of Russian reaction. The Russians are in Syria in a big way hence either they can shoot their cruise missiles and hence provide Russians a practical way to sell their S-400 more or start a war by attacking the navy ships from which these missiles were fired. It is bad either way for US, hence further escalation in Syria is not possible.
