The difference between the J and K Stinger is the mounting platform. The FIM-92J is designed to be used from a shoulder-fired launcher, meaning the seeker is always pointed straight forward so the firer can point the system manually at the target. It also has provisions to receive cooling and power from small batteries on the launcher. The K Stinger is designed to be used from land platforms such as the Humvee Avenger. An improved datalink is added between the missile and the launcher that allows the vehicle launcher to cue the seeker to track targets the launcher may have data on. The missile also has a slightly different port configuration to accept electricity and cooling from the vehicle launcher as opposed to a shoulder launcher

Starstreak II is a truly versatile missile and is most effective when dealing with targets with short exposure times. As soon as a target is detected the operator presses the trigger and launches the missile. (There is no waiting for lock on). The rocket motor system accelerates the missile to greater than Mach 3 in a fraction of a second. The missile system then releases the three laser guided hittiles towards the target. The laser beam riding guidance, which enables precision engagement of the smallest of targets, is immune to all known countermeasures. The hittiles in flight cannot be decoyed by even the latest flares or ECM.
The Startreak II hittiles are designed to defeat both heavily armored and light skin aerial targets. On penetrating the targets the hittiles will inflict high levels of kinetic energy damage and each hittile also has a fragmenting warhead which detonates inside the target to maximize lethality. The strike is highly precise yet the collateral damage is minimized.

The RBS 70 missile can be operated independently in stand-alone mode or can be configured with several firing units linked with a surveillance radar to form an anti-aircraft battery. The truck-mounted Giraffe land mobile radar developed by Ericsson (now Saab Microwave Systems) can be linked to nine RBS 70 firing posts. Typically 4km apart, the firing posts protect an area of 175km². The target data, including range, bearing and velocity is transmitted to each designated missile firing post.
The RBS 70 NG’s modular design allows it to reuse all existing generations of RBS 70 missiles up to the new BOLIDE 4th generation all-target VSHORAD missile.
